Curses

From Fantasia Encyclopedia

Curses are magical effects that impact the target, mostly negatively but sometimes in a positive way.

Curses are generally speaking the opposite of blessings.

Curses usually are permanent. There are temporary curses with specific requirements.

Most curses require the "remove curse" spell, the highest curses might require the "wish" spell to remove it.

There are different leveled curses, requiereing different ammounts of components. A general rule of thumb is listed down below.

Curse Types:

Every Curse has a curse type determining how many "components/steps" are necessary to break it. The more requirements, the higher the curse level. This scale does not abide to the effectiveness of the curse, just to the requirements of breaking it. In the world there are minor curses that can kill you and High curses that change you but make you stronger.

Minor Curse:

This curse is most likeley a spell or an ability of lower monsters. It can be removed by succeeding a saving throw without help from anybody else or by casting a spell like dispel magic, remove curse, minor restoration, great restoration or wish. Generally speaking just one component is needed like a spell and/or a successful saving throw.

Major Curse:

Major Curses need 3 components to get rid of. Components can be a place, a recourse, a time, a spell, an item or something comparable. Usually one of these recources is consumed during the process. Generally speaking to lift a curse of that magnitude needs something personal that is somehow connected to the curse or the believe it stems from.

Major Curses:

Lycanthropie

High Curse:

This kind of curse is not mend to be broken. It can be a curse given by gods or fiend, or gained through other methods but generally speaking it is nearly impossible to break it. Usually there are at least 5 or more very specific components necessary to break a curse of this magnitude and still there is a chance for failure.
